Dermatology Focus: Warts
Dermatology is the study of the skin and its various health conditions; warts are one of those conditions that affect the skin and have been studied to fully understand their existence along with possible cures. The wart itself is visibly seen on the outer layer of the skin and is caused by a virus. What most people don’t know is that the wart is in fact a benign tumor on the epidermis. HPV or human pappilomavirus is a DNA virus with two strands that is found in the bottom layer of the epidermis; it replicates and forms what is observed as being another layer of skin. There are several types of HPV with different symptoms and complications – one of which is linked with cervical cancer.
