The eating disorder that is known as anorexia nervosa involves faulty perception about one’s self image that leads to behaviors such as eating less amounts of food in order to remain thin. A person who has this disorder may take measures such as that of starving oneself, just so they can lose weight and become thin.

Bulimia is another eating disorder that leads to an obsession with food causing one to overeat, followed by behaviors such as forced vomiting, purging and exercising to get rid of all the food eaten. There are a number of similarities and differences between both disorders that are mentioned below:

The first similarity between the two disorders is that it usually begins after a person has spent quite some time being concerned about one’s weight and physical features. After spending some time dieting and controlling the amount of food that they should consume, they may acquire the disorder.

Such people are most of the time engrossed in their thoughts about food, weight and appearance, and they tend to worry a lot about becoming thin and socially desirable.

Usually, these eating disorders also lead to psychological problems such as depression and stress in the sufferer. Most people start taking drugs or alcohol to get relief.

Some differences between the two also exist. Firstly, people who have bulimia worry less about how other people perceive them, than the ones with anorexia. The levels of concern relating to what people may think about them are less as compared to anorexics. Also, they put less emphasis in eating while calculating every single calorie that they are taking in.

In addition, people with bulimia have a more difficult time controlling their impulses, and may have mood swings and behavioral problems.

So it was in the fall of 2008, after years of suffering from chronic heartburn, I decided to take charge of my life and discover natural heartburn home remedies in order to heal what I describe as; the root of my acid reflux syndrome.

When heartburn first occurred, I would rely on antacid-tablets like Tums or Rolaids for fast relief. I must admit, these pills are extremely effective at neutralizing acid reflux. But eventually as my condition got worse so did my dependency. It came to a point where I would carry and hide these pills everywhere I could possibly imagine just in case I would have a sudden heartburn attack.

Rolaids and Tums were so efficient, that it took me several years before admitting my dependency. Heartburn is a harmless condition when it rarely happens, and everybody does experience some type of mild heartburn once in a while. However, if heartburn happens on a daily basis, it could become a monster disease that sometimes leads to serious indigestion disorder.

There is no correlation between heartburn and the heart, it’s simply a common expression that people employ when they feel a burning pain around the chest and throat area. In fact, the pain is caused by acid reflux flaring upward into the food channel leading to an unpleasant experience of burning pain.

Understanding why you get heartburns is the first step towards recovery. Unhealthy eating habits such as over eating, eating junk, spicy and greasy foods, and especially improper chewing are considered among the top reasons why someone gets heartburn. To my experience, treating the symptoms of acid reflux with pharmaceutical drugs will only give you temporary relief. If you want to get rid of heartburn, you will need to treat the root of your problem, and you will find the answer with natural heartburn home remedies.

I have quickly learned that natural heartburn home remedies such as: baking soda, Aloe Vera, Manuka honey, licorice root, pure apple cider vinegar, and even yellow mustard would be not only effective at fighting against heartburn but taken regularly would slowly but surely heal heartburn for good.

Overcoming binge eating can be very difficult without help. It is a more serious problem than people realise and is as a result often overlooked in favour of conditions that are perceived to be more serious. However, binge eating or comfort eating can have a serious affect on your health and lead to serious medical conditions.

Binge eating is associated with a number of different situations. If you are feeling low and eating alone for comfort regularly and feel ever more depressed and guilty afterwards then you may have a problem. If you feel that you eat when you are not even hungry and that you eat large quantities until you are totally full, or eat very quickly then again you might want to look at yourself closely. You’ll probably know what triggers you to pig out and start eating anything and everything in sight.

As well as being a physical problem affecting your health, binge eating is a mental or emotion issue as well because this is the underlying reason as to why it is happening. The disorder is marked by times of distress and you therefore you need to look at why you are depressed and tackle that head on before the disorder goes away.

In many cases, it is a vicious cycle in that people get depressed about something in their lives, then eat to find comfort. Food then becomes like a drug to them and they in turn become more depressed due to their eating habits and the affect it is having on their health and appearance.

You need to take everything one step at a time and to pursue your long term goal of eating normally. Food is the drug of choice for binge eaters so its important that you look for help, perhaps from your doctor or support groups, much like anyone addicted to drugs or alcohol would do.

Seek counselling from professionals who can help you get over your depression and also look to family members and support groups to lend that helping hand at home. Keep trying until you find a method that works for you.

Ok, you do need to diet and exercise in order to lose arm flab. BUT, for most women, diet and exercise aren’t the rate limiting factors when it comes to getting rid of the jiggle.

In reality, there is so much information on diet and exercise floating around, that any woman could gain an insane amount of knowledge on the topics.

So, the top factor that hold women back from reaching their sexy arm goal, is a poor mental strategy.

I struggled with up and down motivation for a very long time when trying to lose arm flab. So called self help books and motivational speakers only provided temporary motivation that would always end up fading away.

Luckily, I found some awesome work by David Burns M.D., that provided an extremely effective method for optimizing thought processes and maintaining motivation for the long haul. Central to his method is the identification of “cognitive distortions.”

And here are 3 of the said distortions that you should eliminate immediately from your internal dialogue if you want everlasting motivation:

1. Coercive statements. The “no pain no gain” attitude that pervades our culture has kept this type of cognitive distortion alive and kicking. If you find yourself saying, “I should exercise today” or “I must exercise today”, stop immediately. Should and must are coercive words that will make you feel pressured and will eventually kill your desire to keep moving forward.

2. Labeling statements. If you ever find yourself attaching a label to a hiccup on your part, stop immediately. Labels (i.e., loser, worthless, slob, sloth) create the illusion that there is an internal problem with you that can be fixed. Instead of using labels, describe the situation that led to the hiccup so that you can avoid it in the future.

3. Minimization. Doing this will make you feel one inch tall. You see, with minimization you assume that your “true potential” is much smaller than it actually is. Always assume that you can do something, never assume that you can’t. Test your distorted assumptions with action.

Figuring out the right mental game when trying to lose arm flab can be very hard if you are using standard self help techniques. Avoiding the above distortions will bring you many steps closer to long term motivation.

Learning and applying how to get thin arms can be quite the challenge even when you are using an effective program. For the most part, diet and exercise are NOT the culprits.

Learning and applying how to get thin arms can be quite the challenge even when you are using an effective program. For the most part, diet and exercise are NOT the culprits. It’s your ability to stay motivated for extended periods of time that will guarantee success.

Most women, however, are not able to stay on track for the long haul.

How many times have you seen someone start a fitness program only to end it weeks later? You see, starting something is very easy, but actually finishing it is much harder. Why? Because motivation cannot be bottled.

So without further ado, here are 4 tips for staying motivated when learning how to get thin arms:

1. Have a daily routine. It’s absolutely critical that you have a daily routine of mental exercise. You shouldn’t address motivation once it begins to fade, by this time it’s too late. Preventing is far easier than curing.

2. Don’t rely on motivational speeches. Motivational speeches are great for getting you fired up for short periods of time. But the afterglow fades quickly. If you want lasting motivation, you have to modify your thought processes.

3. Write it down. Dealing with motivation-crushing thoughts within the boundaries of your head is like trying to hoard a vicious pack of fruit flies. You have to keep some type of physical log in order to deconstruct and eliminate them.

4. Don’t overestimate. Most women overestimate how hard it is to get thin arms. One strategy to counteract this is to keep a before and after log of activities. For instance, write down how hard you think it is to exercise at 100% effort. Once you complete the workout, write down how hard it actually was. More often than not, you’ll notice that you overestimate how hard things are.

Now even if you follow all of the advice in this article, you are still going to face setbacks. This happens to everyone. The main difference between women that get thin arms and those that don’t, is how fast they bounce back. So never get discouraged if you fall off of the bandwagon, simply get right back on!

I once knew someone back in college who had body dysmorphia. He had to have more muscle, as well as lose a bunch of fat. He also had to have lots of veins standing out in bold relief over all his muscles.

by Rick Steel

I once knew someone back in college who had body dysmorphia. He had to have more muscle, as well as lose a bunch of fat. He also had to have lots of veins standing out in bold relief over all his muscles.

It was also quite apparent that he wanted limbs that were well-defined by muscles, maybe because, people couldnt tell at a glance that he even worked out. What a dork.

I knew that he also wanted to become a fast runner. Probably to run away from his problems. Or steal stuff.

And by the way, he didnt just want his limbs to look shapely with muscles. He wanted all those muscles to look proportionately large. If he felt his muscles were getting too large, he worried about the size of his back and even his arms. If his chest looked rather small, he worried that his other parts of the body, like his forearms, were getting too big. I made fun of him a lot.

For the two years I knew him, this guy chased every fitness goal under the sun and didnt get anywhere.

Its important to prioritize one fitness goal over the others.

Want to be a better runner? Alright ” practice your running and dont worry if your arms shrink a bit. Want biceps that bust out of your sleeves? Okay ” but you might want to ease up on the jogging a bit and not worry if your lung capacity goes down a microcosm while you focus on building muscle.

This is what fitness is all about: One should prioritize only one fitness goal. He doesnt need to burden himself with trying to accomplish several.

The most common goal is to drop around 20 pounds and tone up your body.

With this circumstance, losing body fat should be at the top priority. A fat-loss routine, by then, should involve strength training. This exercise should be able to increase ones metabolism. Another thing that this could do is help tone the arms, legs, and even the midsection. One could even become as toned as me, Rick Steel.

Always remember that obsession toward several fitness goals is not advisable. If that happens, then your efforts are spread over a wide range of activities. Unfortunately, with this, you will never be able to accomplish your goals. Then you’ll never be as awesome as Rick Steel.
