Solar energy and heat

The solar heat systems make use of several principles dealing with the conversion of light into solar thermal energy. The main point a person needs to take away from this is how this can benefit them as far as solar thermal home heating. This can better be appreciated when you know how the process works.

About the Collectors

A solar thermal collector produces heat by using the well known green house effect. Light passes through a glazed glass surface and in turn is absorbed into a material where the molecules are easily excited in turn producing heat. Once the heat is produced it can immediately be used. The glass doesn’t allow for much escape of the heat.

Heat Principles

Heat is described as a form of energy that is related to the movement of molecules. Once the electromagnetic waves that emanate from the sun hit an object, these will excite the molecules of the object, triggering movement. The movement of the molecules is then referred to as heat. Heat is constantly moving from high to low temperatures until the temperature becomes even. The process is known as heat transfer.

If 2 objects are set right next to each other and each were at different temperatures, the cooler object would warm up while the warmer object cooled down. This an example of heat transfer and its proportional to the differences in temperatures. The more the difference in heat, the faster heat transfer takes place.

Assessing heat movement

To fully understand heat transfer regarding solar thermal energy, it’s important to know about the 3 kinds of heat transfer. The first is conduction where direct contact between two objects results in heat transfer, such as cooking something in a skillet. The second is convection which is where heat is transferred through moving fluid such as air or water, like baking a cake in the oven. The other is radiation heat transfer, and this is where electromagnetic waves move through a space to strike another object to transfer heat. An example is feeling the sun warm your skin while standing outside.

Choosing the Application

Knowing the types of heat transfer helps you decide which method will work best for your situation. Choosing the correct application for your circumstance ensures you stay warm during those long cold winter months.

During the hot summer to come it’s highly recommend to consider installing an air conditioning unit in our homes, if we didn’t already. The main problems with installing air conditioning are location and children rooms. The benefits air conditioning brings us were only dreams a couple of years ago. Nowadays, air conditioning is very popular, and most work places already have a unit installed, as well as all new cars.

Most people fear air conditioning units can be harmful to their health. We hear people saying that they got sick, they got pneumonia, their back hurts and you don’t know what to do anymore. Certain people are much more sensitive than others to air charges, and this is the root of the problem. So, air conditioning is good, it cools down the room you are using but it depends on the way you place the unit. All inhabitants of the house must be consulted before buying an air conditioning.

You can opt in for a air conditioning unit that has enough power for your entire house, and place it on a central wall. If you place the unit in the living room, then the bedroom won’t be drafty and the temperature will be supportable. If you can place the unit in the bedroom, you will be able to obtain a bearable temperature during the night even if the doors closed.

Many problems arise when we have a baby. Young kids are especially sensitive to heat and can’t sleep we because of it, so a solution much be found. You should not let the baby play with his cubes, dolls or baby grand piano in direct contact with the constant current produced by the unit. There are three options : we place the air conditioning unit in the baby’s room and we let the room cool down when the baby is not there or we let it function constantly but we direct the air current correctly or we install the air conditioning somewhere in a hallway and we let it ventilate indirectly.

For houses, we can choose ceiling air conditioning units. This is a great power unit that directs the cold air through tubes place in the ceiling and walls. New air conditioning options do not even include air, they only consist of pipes that are situated in your walls and ceiling and through witch circulates a constant flow of freezing water.

Other Info: Try to make everything manageable on yourself, visit http://document-scanner.org and see info regarding (a) scanner document feeder.

Let's say it's the middle of summer and the heat is bearing down on you, and your air conditioner breaks down. I bet you would do anything to not pay all that money to have it repaired. Before dropping all that cash on a repairman or similar service, take the time to learn that you can do a few things to self repair your air conditioner.

Consider this scenario: It’s July, your air conditioner just died, and you’re hesitant to pay several hundred dollars to have a repairman come fix it. Before dropping all that cash on a repairman or similar service, take the time to learn that you can do a few things to self repair your air conditioner.

First off you need to find the owners manual for the air conditioner. Whenever you get an item like an air conditioner installed, be sure to keep the manual and any other documents related to the unit to use as a reference, in case there are problems. If you can’t find the manual or didn’t keep it, look online for the information from the manufacturer’s website. Many companies, such as Kenmore or Lennox, will have what you need on the web. It’s also okay to call the manufacturer and request a new manual before you get involved in your own air conditional repairs.

Always make sure your system is completely off before you begin to check it. You can shut off the unit on the electrical panel, or go to the outdoor compressor of your home and find the disconnect or “off” button located there. Also take the time to clean any debris around the system so while you are cleaning no parts get dirty or damaged as you inspect it. After removing the grill that protects the fins, using a soft brush remove all dirt and grime that is on the fins. You may also want to vacuum the fins with the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner.

After you unscrew and lift the grill, make sure that you’re not damaging any wires, and from inside the unit, you’ll need to hose out the fins. It may be necessary to lube up the motor in your air conditioner, but never put on too much.

At this point you should put the unit back together. Always put the parts back on in the order you removed them. You can then turn the unit back on to test it, and set the thermostat to the desired temperature. Allow the unit to run for a bit longer while you check the pipes and make sure they are connected properly to the condenser unit. One of the pipes should feel cool, and the other should feel warm. If each is at the correct temperature, the air will be evenly cooled in your home or office. If both pipes are the same temperature, it may be necessary to seek professional help if they don’t correct within a few minutes of time.

In many parts of the world, the weather changes so drastically from winter to summer that both heating and air conditioning equipment are essential for any residence. Before you shop, though, find the information you need at the Residential Air Conditioning site.

Each day it seems that the cost of energy is rising and rising. With such a continued increase of cost in energy the American public might expect to see as much as 27 to 41 percent increase this winter in their energy bills. With that being the case, pellet stoves just might become a lot more popular.

With such an increase on the horizon, people might find that it is the logical thing to do to invest in pellet stoves. The stoves look a lot like a wood burning stove or a fireplace insert depending upon what style is purchased. The best thing though about these stoves is that instead of burning wood they use recycled wood shavings, corn or compressed saw dust.

The fire that pellet stoves create is small but burns extremely hot. Because logs are not used, you will not be getting that nice flame you might be wanting so it might be wise to get a large viewing glass with a good sized flame pattern. Or if it is a smaller stove you can always get ceramic logs that will help spread out the flame for a more realistic flame look.

Pellet stoves are extremely cost effective but they are a complex item and you need to understand that there will times that the parts in the stove will need maintenance. So it will be wise to get a stove that is made where it will be easy to remove the parts that need the maintenance. An even wiser thing to do might be to take out a maintenance agreement and have someone else do the work.

Pellet stoves have two different feed types. The first one is called a top fed stove where the fuel is put in from the top. This one is good because it does not have ashes at the back of the stove because the fire does not burn at the back. But it can clog up the combustion chamber. So it is always recommended that only the expensive fuels be used in this type.

Then there is the bottom fed stove that has the fuel put in at the bottom of the stove. This one does not have the combustion problem but ashes do collect at the back of the stove so it is advisable that it be cleaned out once a week. With the bottom fed stove you can use the less expensive types of fuels.

There are motors in all pellet stoves so it is important that you place your stove close to a 110 volt outlet for it will need to be plugged in to work. Remember if your area is accustomed to having power shortages it would be wise to buy yourself a small gas generator in case of this.

It is advisable that you are aware that pellet stoves are measured in Btus from 8,000 to 90,000. In order to know what size stove you might need, you will need to work with a stove specialist who will in turn need to know your room size and/or how many rooms you will want the stove to warm.

With this impending increase of energy costs many individuals are beginning to consider installing a pellet stove in their homes. Pellet stoves do sort of look like a wood burning stove.

If you have thought about purchasing an infrared sauna you may wonder how to get the best deal on the model that you want.

If you have thought about purchasing an infrared sauna you may wonder how to get the best deal on the model that you want. If you have never heard of these units but are considering installing a sauna in your home you may want to find out a little more about them.

If you have ever sat in a regular sauna you know that different areas of the room are warmer and cooler. This is because they use steam or dry heat to provide indirect heating to the body. An infrared sauna works differently. Instead of one central heating unit they have a number of infrared heaters positioned around the sauna. This provides deep, direct heat to the body and can be a more effective way of raising the body temperature. They are often more easily tolerated by people with breathing problems than a steam sauna may be due to the lack of humidity in the room.

Infrared models are often used by people with joint conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. People who suffer from ankylosing spondylitis are often interested in using them as well. They find that the direct heat penetrates the affected joints and can reduce pain and stiffness. Even if you are someone who suffers from cold damp weather you may find that an infrared sauna makes you feel much better.

Pain conditions are not the only ones that can benefit from an infrared sauna session. If you are trying to lose weight you may want to try one out as well. This is because they can often help the body burn more calories in a short period of time than it would without being heated. You may find that this is more or less effective than other weight loss methods so you might want to try one out at a gym or spa before you install one in your home.

Whether or not you want one for health or for comfort, an infrared sauna can be easier to install in your home than a regular one could be. Many people do not like the idea of keeping a heat source like a stove going for safety reasons and saunas can take some time to heat up as well. But if you are someone who lives in a very damp or cool climate you may find that a sauna can keep you more comfortable and happy during cold or wet weather.

Finding deals may take a bit of work but you can often save a lot of money. You want to think about what your budget is and only look at models within that price range. This is because infrared saunas can range in price quite a bit depending on the size and number of heating elements they have. You may find that infrared models are less expensive than traditional saunas because they are much easier to install. Beware of do-it-yourself models however unless they are plug in models or you have a lot of experience with home renovations. You may find that a do-it-yourself model ends up costing more in the long run.

If you find a model you like, try surfing the internet to find better prices. You may find that if you are willing to wait until newer models come out, you will be able to find better deals on the model that you like. Make notes about the features you like best and look for the same features in other models. You may find they are less expensive than the name brand model you had in mind.

Saunas can be soothing and invigorating. Spending time baking in the heat can help your joints feel more mobile and less painful. Aches and pains that come from damp weather can be banished by a few short sauna sessions. Spending your money and getting the best model for your budget can be a fantastic way to stay in the best health possible.

As sauna helps one relax, infrared heat therapy helps to remove toxins, allowing one to feel refreshed. Saunas also offer infrared benefits including improving one’s immune system and skin texture.

Today, it seems as though everyone is looking for ways to not only relax, but get healthy. Saunas have become a popular way to relax, spend time with friends, and improve one’s health. There are now a wide range of people using saunas which has led many people to ask if a sauna is appropriate for everyone.

When used properly, there are a number of sauna benefits. The heat from a sauna will cause your body to increase in temperature which results in stimulated blood cells that increases circulation. Saunas also help to improve one’s sleep so that one wakes up feeling rested and alert.

As well as boosting circulation, saunas will also boost metabolism and burn calories much more quickly. The use of a sauna is also a great stress reducer. Your body and mind will relax and you will feel any anxiety and stress slip away. Your muscles will relax and any tension or soreness will diminish. Any aching joints will feel relief as the heat will extend to the bones and joints.

The steam from a sauna will help relieve nasal congestion by unclogging the nasal passages allowing one to breathe better. Regular use of a sauna also helps boosts one’s immune system making it easier to fight off colds and the flu. Saunas are also a great way to improves one skin as perspiration cleans out the pores

Regular sauna sitting can help improve one’s health; however it is important to make sure it is the right setting for you. For instance, people with respiratory or heart problems should talk to their doctor before using a sauna as they are usually advised not to use one. As well, people with low blood pressure should not use a sauna. Many experts advise men who are trying to conceive a child with their spouse not use a sauna as the high temperature can negatively affect the sperm. Pregnant women are advised not to use a sauna as the excess heat can negatively affect the fetus.

Children should only sit in a sauna for a short time and sit on the lowest bench. Children should also be supervised by an adult. One should not drink a lot of alcohol and use a sauna as the alcohol combined with the heat can lower blood pressure. If you are taking medication that inhibits your ability to sweat, it can be dangerous to sit in a sauna. The same is true if you have a fever.

When using a sauna, the key to ensuring safety is to use it properly. Do not make it too hot and do not stay in the sauna for more than an hour. If you feel faint, dizzy, or exhausted, you should exit the sauna. Never fall asleep in a sauna. As well, make sure you have lots of water available so you do not dehydrate. The use of saunas has been steadily increasing to include all ages and various types of people. If you are unsure if you should use a sauna because of a specific condition, you should consult with your doctor.

As sauna helps one relax, infrared therapy helps to remove toxins, allowing one to feel refreshed. Saunas also offer infrared benefits including improving one’s immune system and skin texture.

When it concerns portable air conditioning, not that many people think that it's the best way to reduce the temperature. It simply doesn't work as satisfactorily as a central air conditioning system or even a window mounted air conditioner. However, there are some circumstances where neither of the other more preferable options is practical.

On the whole folks will agree that portable air conditioning isn’t the best way to cool off. It just doesn’t measure up to either a central air conditioning system or window units. But sometimes your circumstances may not allow either of the other more effective alternatives.

For folks who live in an apartment, for example, these units are frequently the sole way they can cool down their living quarters. Normally, the windows in an apartment are either inconveniently located or the landlord won’t allow installing a window air conditioner. This makes a portable air conditioner your only possible option.

There might be times when you want to cool down just one specific location. For a garage, workshop, or other small space, setting up a permanent unit is unrealistic. In these circumstances a portable air conditioner can be a satisfactory option. Without going to the trouble of permanent installation, you can get a rather decent degree of comfort.

Portable air conditioners function in a similar manner to other forms of residential air conditioning systems. They take in air, dehumidify and chill it, and then push it back into the room. Different from other systems, they don’t pull in air from the exterior of the building. Only the air that is in the room is treated by a portable air conditioning unit.

This is one of the reasons why they are inherently less efficient. Indeed, most people who complain about portable air conditioning units do so for the reason that the room simply doesn’t get as comfortable as with other kinds of air conditioners.

For this reason, you’re not likely to get the comfortable temperatures from portable equipment that you may be hoping for. Then again, portable air conditioners can relieve a hot room, giving some degree of comfort in circumstances where more customary solutions aren’t practical.

You also need to keep in mind the square footage of the room and the cooling capability of the equipment. For a space that’s 150 square feet or smaller, you should be fine with a 7500 BTU model. For 200 square feet, 9000 BTU units are more appropriate. Essentially, you should count on adding 1000 to 1500 BTUs of capacity for every 50 square feet you are attempting to cool.

You’ll have to expect to drain the condensed moisture that results from the cooling process. With central air conditioning or a window fixture, conversely, moisture is eliminated outside. A number of of these units feature a removable tray. Sometimes you have to turn over the entire unit to draw off the water. Some utilize a hose that goes out through the window and empties the water there. Commonly these units have a foam insulation package to seal the window more efficiently.

When the temperature rises to the point where living indoors becomes unbearable there is a real need to cool things down so you can work, relax and sleep. A residential air conditioning system is the best way to handle the situation.

It seems that everywhere we look these days the costs associated with daily living are constantly rising. One area that affects most people is the rise in energy bills. In the last few years, the price of home heating oil and natural gas has increased quite significantly because of the increased demand on the world’s oil supply. As the costs of gas increases, the task of paying for our energy bills becomes quite difficult. It has become essential to shop around when looking for a gas supply company. When one searches for a gas supply company, there are a number of factors they should take in to account before selecting a company.

Gas powered central heating or gas to run a business such as a restaurant is normally cheaper than electricity or oil. When choosing a gas supply company, consider the following tips:

1. The gas supply company should be committed to safety and reliability. Find out what type of underground lines they use to run the gas and if the lines are safe from leakage. That is, are they the most durable lines available? Ask the company if they are a certified and licensed gas distributor.

2. It is important to compare prices from a number of gas supply companies. For instant each quote from a company should include their total rate which is broken down into the Gas Cost Recovery Rate, A Gross Receipts Tax Rate, and Transportation Costs Rate.

3. It is essential to review and thoroughly understand the gas supply contract. This includes the terms and conditions of the contract. If you are in need of clarification, it is important to ask the supplier. As well, some companies give customers a pipeline charge. This is an unnecessary charge for a home, so if the company says they charge a pipeline fee; look elsewhere for a gas supply company. For businesses such as a restaurant, a pipeline fee may be standard practice.

4. Questions you should ask the gas supply company include: How long will the rate remain in effect? Does the price depend on how much gas one uses? Is there a cancellation fee if I cancel the agreement before the end of its term? Is the price fixed or does it change? Is there a customer incentive for signing up? Is there a budget plan? What happens when my contract expires? Are there any built-in price increases or decreases? What is the price per hundred cubic feet (ccf) or thousand cubic feet (mcf)? It is important to be aware that some companies use a floating price each month, other companies apply a fix price for the entire year, and some charge you a flat rate. A low fixed-price is a good choice.

5. Once you have chosen a gas supply company, that company will notify your local utility. Once confirmed, your local gas utility will send a letter to you substantiating the supplier you have chosen.

When you are looking for a gas supply company, whether for your home or your business, it is important to do your research and comparison shop so that you know you are getting the best service at the best price.

Infrared heat therapy has been used for about forty years as a means of treating many injuries and aches in the human body. Infrared rays are waves of light that are not seen, but felt as heat. The sun emits infrared rays, and that is what warms our bodies. The Far Infrared Rays are the longest rays emitted by the sun. It is radiant heat, and produces heat by reacting with mass. Infrared heat penetrates the body, without heating the air around it. Through this penetration, infrared heat stimulates organs, muscle tissue, and the circulatory system. The infrared waves activate the water that composes most of our bodies and it ionizes and stimulates the water. The human body actually produces infrared rays, and some ancient forms of healing through the hands have used this energy. The most research into Far Infrared Heat Therapy has been done in Japan and China during the past forty years.

Because infrared heat therapy is non-invasive and reacts with the water content of the human body, it increases circulation of the blood, and is beneficial without straining the heart. It does this by expanding the capillaries and the smallest blood vessels that carry blood to all cells of the human body.

One of the results of this increased blood circulation has been in the treatment of cancer in some countries. At a hospital in Germany, cancer patients are given a regime of nutrition and detoxification, followed by two weeks of infrared heat therapy. Because the blood circulation is maximized, the cancer cells cannot attach to capillary walls and therefore cannot reproduce. If the blood is flowing freely, the white cells will carry away the cancer cells, thereby preventing the growth of the cancer. Cancer cells are also extremely sensitive to heat; the body temperature is raised to about 40 degrees Celsius during infrared heat therapy; cancer cells cannot continue at those temperatures.

Another result of increased blood circulation is the relief from muscle ache and injury. Because the blood brings oxygen to the area, the damaged tissue is rejuvenated and repair is hastened. This increased circulation also lowers blood pressure, because the vessels are dilated. It also helps prevent clots that form when the arteries become constricted by plaque, calcium or fat. As the arteries dilate, the increased blood flow is able to carry away these deposits and lessen the chances of stroke or heart attack that result from this narrowing of the channel.

The increased level of blood circulation promotes healing of many disorders by delivering oxygen and nutrients carried by the blood to all parts of the body, and stimulating the lymph system, which is responsible for the production of white blood cells to combat infection and remove toxins. The benefits range from a general sense of well-being to reduction of wrinkles. Some other conditions treated with infrared heat therapy are gastritis, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, headache, osteoporosis and many other common disorders.

Far Infrared Heat Therapy may also assist the body remove heavy metal toxins from the system. By exciting the water molecules that trap these toxins, the molecules are released, and the circulatory system can eliminate them. Infrared heat therapy is an effective method of improving blood circulation and has become a popular tool used to help patients recover from injuries and other health conditions.

As sauna helps one relax, infrared therapy helps to remove toxins, allowing one to feel refreshed. The infrared benefits include improving one’s immune system and skin texture.
