Most of the people that are infected with herpes are normally infected with a particular strain of it, known as the herpes simplex virus one. More commonly known as the cold sore. Symptoms are very mild and people do not notice this. This is advantageous to an infected person because it does not disrupt their lifestyle. However, there is a greater risk of unwittingly infecting another person.

Herpes symptoms occur in what is known as outbreaks. The frequency of outbreaks can vary between different people. For some people it may take months or years before the first outbreak. For some people, it can take only days. People experience flu-like symptoms during their first outbreak. They have fever and pain in the back and the leg. These only happen during the first outbreak of an infection of the herpes simplex virus 2. Afterwards, herpes outbreaks consist mostly of blisters that can cause some discomfort, scab and then later heal and disappear. Later outbreaks are less uncomfortable compared to the first one.

Recurrent attacks are caused by the same infection. It is not caused by a reinfection of the virus. Over time, the frequency of the outbreaks lessens and some people experience no outbreaks at all. The HSV2 virus is spread when there is contact with the cold sore or a skin that is infected with the virus. Transmission can occur even when there are no symptoms present.

Getting tested for herpes can involve taking a swab from an infected area of the body. When an outbreak occurs, a swab sample is drawn over the blister and tested. This can determine the type of infection, whether it is an HSV-1 or HSV-2. The other type of test is a blood test. This has an advantage over the swab test because it’s possible to diagnose an infection even when there are no outbreaks. However, you can’t tell which body part is infected. It’s good to ask your doctor what kind of test is suitable for you.

The herpes virus cannot be totally eradicated from the body. It will be there for as long as it wants to be. Despite this, there are several treatments that are available to manage the symptoms when an outbreak occurs. Iodine paint can help blisters dry out. Salt baths can be employed to give some comfort.

There are also prescription medication called anti-virals. These drugs can reduce the symptoms during an outbreak. It can also be taken continuously ot prevent or reduce the frequency of outbreaks.

Once you have oral or genital herpes in men or women, it is all yours for life. Following the first attack, it continues to be an unwelcoming guest inside your body permanently. It locates a cozy location to lie low till it kicks up trouble again. It causes repeated outbreaks that often happen at the worst moments, such as when you’re currently sick or whenever you’ve an important function to go to. This isn’t just awful fortune. Tension can depress the functioning of the immune system and boost the likelihood of outbreaks.

You are not only stuck with the virus; you can also pass it along to sex lovers for the rest of your lifetime. Flare-ups might also recur, sometimes with irritating consistency. That being said, some people don’t have any repeated episodes. Still others have moderate, short repeated episodes which become much less frequent with time.

Different types of herpes usually are caused by variations from the Herpes simplex virus. Probably the most common kind, Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), causes oral herpes. Symptoms of oral herpes is characterized by cold sores or fever blisters about the lips or mouth area. It can also be transferred to the genital area by the hands or by oral-genital contact.

Genital herpes in men and females is caused by a similar yet distinct virus, the Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). The female and male genital herpes virus yields agonizing, shallow sores and blisters on the sex organs. HSV-2 can also be transmitted to the mouth area via oral-genital contact. Both kinds of herpes could be transmitted sexually. One more type of herpes virus (type 8 ) is also transmitted sexually and is connected with Kaposi’s sarcoma, a kind of cancer discovered frequently in men with HTV/AIDS.

Physicians are not required to report instances of herpes in men or women to public health authorities, so you’ll find no precise statistics on their prevalence.

The psychological problems connected with male genital herpes could be much more traumatic than the bodily effects from the condition. The prospects of an entire life of repeated episodes as well as worries with regards to infecting an individuals sex companions worsen the emotional impact of herpes. A “herpes syndrome’ has been referred to as that which usually involves feelings of anger, depression, remoteness, and even thoughts of being tainted, unsightly; or dangerous.

Pubic lice are a parasite which is infests mainly the pubic area of an individual although they infect the other areas of the body as well. A keen observation under the microscope reveals that these creatures have legs when they are six weeks old due to which they bear a close resemblance to crabs.

There are many ways in which the public lice can transmitted from one individual to another. The most common method of transmission is through sexual contact when they jump from the pubic hair of one person to that of the sexual partner although other methods of contraction are through linen like clothing, bedding, washcloths and towels.

Many people can be infested with public lice, or crabs, presenting no symptoms whatsoever. Yet, most infected individuals will experience a good deal of itchiness. The situation will worsen once the lice become very active and start to bury their heads under the skin in the pubic area feeding on human blood.

Often, lice bites in the infected area can become inflamed due to constant and persistent scratching. This causes the pubic area to become raw and can lead to traditional and secondary bacterial infections. Persistent scratching an itch and can also compel public lice to jump onto adjacent clothing, bedding or other material and can then be transmitted to other individuals.

The incubation period for these parasites is approximately four weeks from the first stage onwards during which the symptoms of infestation are not apparent at all. It is only after the lice become adults that their presence is felt by the individuals.

Since children are particularly prone to contracting pubic lice in form of a condition commonly referred to as blepharitis, it is the duty of the parents to remain constantly alert. Since the lice in such a condition reside on the child’s eyelashes, these areas of the body should be examined closely through a high-powered magnifying glass.

Public lice, or crabs, have the ability to live from one to two days apart from feeding on human body. However, many people hold misconception that they can be transmitted when sitting on a toilet seat or on furniture. This is not true because lice that normally fall from a person’s body usually become injured and dye. Also, public lice cannot jump from one person to another like a flea can. Furthermore, they cannot be contracted from animals.

Contraction of pubic lice occurs through sexual contact between the infected and the fresh individual and in spite of the existence of other methods of transmission, this remains the principle method. Apparel and linen like clothing, towels and washcloths are other mediums through which these parasites can also be successfully transmitted.

Some individuals believe that application and use of a variety of methods of sexual protection like condoms may assist in lessening the risk of the spread of infection. But this theory has been disproved over a period of time due to the logic that these protective measures seldom cover the entire pubic area and hence are incapable for providing protection against the spread of infection.

Harry Cross writes a lot of content on the subject of pubic lice and other common diseases. People have a lot of incorrect infromation on the subject, and this can result in ineffectivepubic lice treatment and results.

There are eight known varieties of viruses that can cause herpes outbreaks but the occurrence of genital herpes is attributed to herpes simplex virus 1 and 2. These viruses cause common cold sores, chicken pox, various kinds of cancer, shingles, encephalitis, and cytomegalovirus. Here we will discuss how HSV1 and HSV2 can lead to herpes outbreaks.

Presently, there is no effective treatment for herpes outbreaks. For some people, having the condition has become a normal part of their life. However, this does not have to be this way because there are available alternatives for minimizing the number, extent, and severity of the STD.

First, you need to have knowledge of how to control herpes outbreaks. It is important to learn how you will avoid transmission to other people. Majority of those who have the condition are not even aware of it because there are no symptoms being manifested.

You need to bear in mind that spread of the disease is still possible even if there is no outbreak. This is known as shedding. It is unlikely to diagnose a herpes outbreak without subjecting yourself to a medical examination by a health care provider.

During herpes outbreaks, the HSV virus is usually transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. However, with asymptomatic viral shedding, it travels up to the nerve pathways to the skin’s surface without an active outbreak.

Viral shedding can happen in the first instance of herpes outbreaks or after a few days after recovery. While prescription drugs are not suggested, there are some items on the market that can prevent viral shedding as well as from getting the infection.

Information gathering about the proper ways of preventing herpes outbreaks can lessen the possibility of transmitting herpes. Being loyal to your partner as well as implementing safe sex practices is also an effective method of keeping the virus away from your system.

Although herpes is incurable, do not be afraid once you suffer from herpes outbreaks. Take hold of information on how you can regulate it. There are various natural treatment alternatives that can help you get rid of herpes outbreaks.

One of the most commonly sexually transmitted disease of today is genital herpes, which is caused by the herpes simplex virus. This is the same family of viruses that cause cold sores, shingles and chicken pox.

by Teresa Martin

One of the most commonly sexually transmitted disease of today is genital herpes, which is caused by the herpes simplex virus. This is the same family of viruses that cause cold sores, shingles and chicken pox.

Genital herpes is caused by the virus called herpes simplex type II. The virus called herpes simplex type I causes cold sores on the nose and lip area. The mucous membranes of either the reproductive tract or lip/mouth area are equally attractive to the herpes virus and will happily reside in either region. It is important to understand that oral genital contact can transmit both virus types. In other words oral sex should be refrained from cold sores are present in the mouth area as it can transmit the virus to the genital area and vice versa. The blisters caused by the herpes viruses are virtually identical and hard to differentiate between.

What are the symptoms of genital herpes? Often is the case an individual will run fever and have body aches, typical of many viruses, upon the initial infection. However, that is not always true. Some people are unaware they are infected until they experience an outbreak of blisters in their genital area.

This occurrence is called an outbreak and is characteristic of the herpes virus acting in the body. There are periods of time when the virus lays dormant and there are no symptoms present. This will be followed by an outbreak at such time there will be blisters present on the genital area and may possibly extend into the anal area. Genital sores act in the same manner as a cold sore on your lips. You feel the initial tingling, it grows, spreads and eventually bursts leaving the ulceration that slowly heals on its own.

Men typically experience these blisters on or around the penis, and women experience the sores in the vagina and surrounding area.

Unfortunately the herpes virus is a life long virus, but the outbreaks will come and go. In fact the outbreaks will diminish over time with some cases resulting in no outbreaks at all.

Diagnosis of genital herpes should be done by a healthcare professional. People often are unaware they are affected until the first outbreak, and for others the symptoms are so mild they mistake it for a basic skin irritation. Diagnosis is usually done with an inspection of the infected area. In most cases a swab will taken of a blister to confirm the diagnosis.

While there is no cure for herpes, there is treatment available which will help control virus. Initially an anti-viral medication can be used to help fight the infection, and in some cases are used for a prolonged period of time if there are frequent outbreaks. Other common sense treatments that aid in the discomfort of outbreaks are wearing loose clothing, the use of cold compresses, and the use of soothing creams or ointments on the affected area.

A healthy immune system is key in reducing frequency of outbreaks. You should avoid smoking, drinking alcohol and drug use as it is an immune system drain and can increase the likely-hood of outbreaks. A great defense against outbreaks is just good clean living, including quality food and exercising.

Genital herpes is not known as a life threatening disease, especially for those with healthy immune systems. However, an exhausted immune system can make outbreaks more likely. When HIV, cancer or other immune system suppressers are present the virus does become more dangerous.

Should the virus be transmitted to other areas like the eyes or brain the complications can be severe. The direct transmission can happen in a number of ways, but most commonly occurs during the birthing process where unfortunately the baby can become infected from contact with the infected mothers vagina.

If you in any way believe you have contracted genital herpes make arrangements to see your doctor immediately. You should always practice safe sex with the use of a condom, even during oral sex. Your sexual partner should always be made aware of your infection as it is irresponsible to pass along genital herpes.
