When He’s Lost That Loving Feeling

As hard as it may seem to believe most men will at some point in their lives go through a period where their libido will decrease.

A lack of libido can be the result of physical or psychological problems. Dealing with the issue in an open and honest way is crucial if the relationship is to survive.

It can be caused by any number of things. The most common being stress related or a side-effect from medication or medical condition. You will need to sit down and talk the problem through with your man. See if he can tell you what he thinks the issue is. Be as compassionate and understanding as possible. Realize that this is major issue for most men and directly impacts their feelings of masculinity.

If it is a case of dying love, perhaps your marriage or relationship is going downhill. There is likely to be other signals of this - more arguments, more hostility, similar feelings for both partners. If so, then you may have larger issues than a lack of sex drive to contend with.

But sometimes, a woman will encounter nothing but this loss of sex drive, meaning there is definitely something causing it, which usually spawns depression - hence the loss of interest.

If your man can’t think of any obvious reason then a trip to the doctor is needed. If your man is taking any medication such as anti-depressants then the issue could well be a side-effect and a trip to the doctor and a change in meds could be all that’s needed.

If there is something medical wrong, then your man will doubtless be worried. If there is something medically wrong then hopefully it can be treated. You may find that just the act of being diagnosed is enough to relieve the stress and you may find your man returning to his former self. If there is something physically wrong then this too can sometimes be helped with the use of Erectile Dysfunction (ED) drugs such as Viagra.

When it comes to psychological problems - ie. family issues, a fight with a friend, work etc, it could be a case of an argument, in the current climate he might be worried about losing his job, perhaps a close relative has died, it can be addressed together.

Even the simple act of talking about the issue can be enough to life the stress. Make sure he knows you’re there for him no matter what. Although most will deny it all men need a shoulder to cry on. As his partner it’s your job to be there for him. Arguments can be resolved, time will help heal wounds from losing loved ones, jobs can be replaced or perhaps even saved. But the knowledge of the fact he is not alone will help greatly.

Finance and money is a key cause of most relationship issues. But it can be helped by organizing. By physically writing out a budget, either weekly or monthly, it can give you both some perspective as to what needs to be done and where you can save a little by cutting back. This may not solve the problems, if they involve debt of any kind, but that can be helped by consulting a debt consolidator or similar company, or negotiating with credit companies. By achieving a tidy organization of your finances, this too can help in bringing your man back to normal.

Always continue to show him that you are attracted to him and interested in intimacy. You can influence him by making a move and coming on to him or why not try some new sex positions. If he is really not responding positively, keep your cool and do not get frustrated. A sex toys can be great, get him to use it on you and if he’s into it you might even try it on him. Seeing you happy and sexually satisfied may just push a button for him too, and this can help him to regain his sex drive, if only little by little.
